DJ’s:

–Rich Nines– Salt Spring Island/Vancouver BC 9:30 pm

RICH NINES (www.soundcloud.com/richnines) is an anagram of actual name ERIC SHINN, it represents all the permutations of their personality in one enigma. This schizophonic selector identity came together when they moved to Salt Spring in 2011 after 20 years DJing from Toronto and Montreal to BC – they used to change aliases as their taste in vinyl and genres evolved from big beat breaks and dnb (“Dr. Asymptote”) to jungle, house and techno (“DJ Hypercolour”) to dubstep (“Invisibling”)… now with digital DJing from laptop with controller, the endless possibilities of mixing genres and matching moods to moments are what inspire RICH NINES be it at a rave, club, lounge, festival, conference, retreat, wedding, fashion show, gallery…

You can catch RICH NINES twice a month in Victoria DJing 2 residencies for the past 2 years: Cenote Lounge and VEC for Art Battle. In Vancouver you’ll find them popping up DJing underground dance music events at various venues so far including Anza, VAL, Fox Theatre, MAKE, The Rattle, The Web, The Astoria, Beaumont Studios, Red Gate (their last gig with Tank Gyal was there in 2014 at Bloodsound)… on Salt Spring they first arrived 7 years ago with Brontron invited by Bass Dojo to bring that Toronto/UK hybrid bass music flavour to the island. Here they’re best known for DJing epic late-night / early-morning sets in the cob house at Earth Candy Hallowe’en every time since 2010, and a few times a year at the usual island public halls and select private venues for special events – Last show they co-produced here was with Matsya, the legendary Silhouette event at Phoenix Farm featuring Lila Rose.

Stoked for this benefit for Stagecoach! Rich Nines loves dancing with Light Twerkerz and DJing ‘longside Lighta! Crew, so for this event expect the un/expected genre-bent never spent dubwise classic and future-fresh island/city vibes to move your feet from all directions whether wheeling up from south end north end or ferrying over from east and west, all massive roll through!”

–MyKey Boom– Pink Cowbows Productions, Salt Spring Island 10:30 pm

–TANK GYAL– LIGHTA SOUND!, Vancouver

At the top of Vancouver’s dancehall riddim pyramid is Tank Gyal: toppa top DJ, creator and resident of Ting: the city’s longest-running reggae dancehall night, and proud member of the notorious Lighta! Sound. Tank Gyal has cemented herself as one of the West Coast’s foremost authorities on reggae dancehall music and all of its offshoots and has played shows all over the world including Jamaica, Mexico, Switzerland, Miami and Las Vegas and countless festivals and concerts including Damian Marley’s Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise, Shambhala, all 8 editions of Bass Coast and stage shows featuring Jamaican artists from the likes of Beenie Man, Mavado, Konshens and Lady Saw on the dancehall tip to Chronixx, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Toots & the Maytals and The Wailers on the reggae side. Armed with tunes from the past, present and future of Jamaican music mixed with a healthy dose of custom dubplates, Tank Gyal’s fast-paced DJ sets have something for everyone and are guaranteed to get the dance floor moving.

All profits go to StageCoach Theatre school to help lower the costs of our amazing after school theatre programs and to our Rising Star program, which helps families access the classes they usually might not be able to :)
Please come and dance your heart out to these high profile dj’s who will bless our ears and feet! BASS, BASS, BASS!

ON FEBRUARY 28th, 2015 – 5pm to 9pm

MarchOfFools-2015-bright-yellow2

The event is family-friendly– we’ll have pizzas and desserts for sale, and live entertainment, including a marimba band playing.  There will be an opportunity to participate in a fun improv activity with StageCoach’s improv instructor, Kate.  The event starts early so that young families can still get their children home for bedtime.

This is our annual fundraising event for StageCoach Theatre School.  It helps us with our administrative/rental costs so we can keep our tuitions as low as possible.  Students have been given pledge forms to find sponsors, for whom they promise to dress up in crazy outfits (anything fun will do!) to attend this event.  Awards will be given for spectacular fundraising and costumes.  It doesn’t matter if your children aren’t in the program, everyone is invited!
Looking forward to see you all there!

 WE WILL MISS YOU MAGGIE!

From Maggie…

8519918165_8c199ea16e_zHello Families.

“As many of you know, I have stepped down from my roles as Administrator, Producer and Instructor with StageCoach Theatre School.
This is a bittersweet time for me.9774514716_059d6476ee_z
I have been an instructor for the school for 6 1/2 years and have run the school with Adina and a wonderful bunch of board members for the past 4 1/2 years. I have enjoyed my time with StageCoach, getting to know so many community members and I have enjoyed working with all of the kids immensely.  I do believe that they taught me more about theatre, life and myself than I taught them, and that is as it should be.  I am excited to continue to advertise creative and artistic projects here on Salt Spring, and hopefully I will connect with all of you regularly at fun events”.
8626992520_3bd245e315_zMaggie has left her position at StageCoach, but not the family, and definitely not our hearts!  Sincere thanks from the StageCoach Board, the parents and students.
